The ACAC plans to achieve its goals of increasing arts and music resources through four objectives:
1. Provide services and resources
This is the first and current stage of the ACAC development plan. We hope to fulfill our mission by providing such resources as the following:
A Website with links to local artists, venues, galleries, publications, stores, bands, educational opportunities, organizations, information, etc in the community.
Community Art Sales provide a forum for artists of all types, to exhibit their work to the broader community and perhaps raise some funds to further support their work.
Fashion Shows serve a similar purpose as the Art Sale, only for the fashion-oriented.
The Non-Profit, 501(c)3 Tax Status of the ACAC can be used as a fiscal agent for member artists seeking tax-deductible foundation support for their projects.
A Public Address System can be rented for a very low fee, allowing member individuals and community groups to hold musical events without having to go through an expensive sound rental company.
The Community Skills Workshops are grounded by participation from the grassroots, employing the knowledge and skills of talented, experienced people who are members of the local music and arts community and in touch with its needs.
An Artists and Musicians Resource Center will be one of the biggest resources to the art and music community, providing a central location for a host of creative uses.
2. Raise money
This is happening in tandem with the initial service-providing stage of the development plan. Raising funds allows ACAC to pay for the costs of running all the events and services and may be used to pay full or part-time staff and pay off a building mortgage in the future. We raise money by: Direct Asking, Fundraising Letters House Parties, Grants, Benefit Events, a Silent Auction, and Yard Sales.
3. Acquire physical space
The Artists and Musicians Resource Center is planned to be a downtown building purchased by ACAC. Once the service-providing and fundraising stages have fully matured, this momentous step can be taken. A big part of the resource center will be art and music classes offered free or at a low cost. ACAC members will also be able to have art shows, computer classes and art workshops, musical concerts, and make studio and rehearsal space available to starving artists. This would also serve as a general artistic community centere with endless possibilities.
4. Continue providing services and resources
Once the space is procured, the service-providing elements can be expanded as noted above. This point will be a turning point in the ACAC’s development, requiring planning for building maintenance and higher fundraising to support it. We expect volunteer involvement to increase exponentially due to the increased visibility brought by a resource center. This will allow ACAC to broaden its service-providing component and assist a larger demographic in meeting its arts and music needs.
