ACAC is different from many other organizations in Little Rock because it is the only arts cooperative, and because the membership fees are affordable to free, anyone can become a member and benefit from ACAC.
ACAC has General Membership meetings where members of the ACAC direct the workings of the organization. The general membership elects the board of directors and sets broad overall policies and programs to be carried out by the Board and Voting Membership.
There are also bi-weekly working meetings for people who want to be involved in the daily workings of the ACAC. These meetings are where we make decisions about day-to-day details on what projects to do, how to do them, and how to allocate our time and money.
Voting Membership. This is the most important way to get involved with ACAC. Voting members can vote on issues at the bi-weekly meetings. The criteria for membership dictate that the Voting Member, 1) has been to three of the bi-weekly meetings within span of six months, 2) has worked significantly on at least one project, putting in at least 5 hours of time (this is in addition to the 5 volunteer hours of time put in for general membership status), and 3) has undergone a vote by board to allow them to be voting board members.
General Membership. General members either contribute $10.00 in annual dues and attend at least one general membership meeting annually, or volunteer 5 hours of time and attend at least one general membership meeting annually.
Board of Directors. A board is elected from the General Membership and is responsible for the corporate status of the ACAC. Board Positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The President and Vice President represent the ACAC in the community (although this task is shared among many). The Secretary keeps track of membership status and volunteer work. The Treasurer maintains the financial records. This group meets at the bi-weekly meetings along with the Voting Membership, of which they are also a part.
