finalhoboposter_FULL

Little Rock: Arkansas Artist Colossus of Roads and Texas born filmmaker Bill Daniel will join together for a two day gallery show and film screening at the Arkansas Community Arts Cooperative space on June 11 and 12.

Colossus of Roads is also known as Buz Blurr of Gurdon, Arkansas. Blurr, a railroad man for over 40 years is a boxcar artist featured in Daniel’s film. In addition, he is a nationally and internationally known mail art and stencil cut portrait artist.

Daniel, whose photographs will also be shown, is screening his documentary. “Who is Bozo Texino?”, which chronicles the search for the source of a ubiquitous and mythic rail graffiti– a simple sketch of a character with an infinity-shaped hat and the scrawled moniker, “Bozo Texino”– a drawing seen on railcars for over 80 years.

Doors open each night at 6 p.m. for a gallery reception. Film screening begins at 8 p.m. each night on the patio and is  followed at 9:30 by performances from local bands. The all ages event is $5. The Arkansas Community Arts Cooperative is located on 900 S. Rodney Parham, Little Rock, in the old Gallery B building.

BANDS NEEDED FOR HALLOWEEN COVER SETS:

The Great Halloween Cover-Up is a fundraiser for ACAC where bands do cover sets of another band, usually one that is a classic or something that everyone can sing along to.

The show is at Vino’s, October 31st, 2008. This will be the 6th year in a row that we have done the event. Interest has grown each year. This year we’ve already had several requests from bands wanting to be in the show. To be as inclusive as possible, we’re sending out this request for bands to contact us if they want to do a cover set at the show.

Because every year the AC-AC gets a ton of different band requests we can’t pick every band so we have to use this process. We’ll be looking at a variety of factors like how many people your idea will turn out and how it will fit in with the other bands on the bill. Also, the more theatrical and elaborate you can make your costumes and stage show will also give you a leg up.

E-mail your band’s proposal for what cover set you’d like to do to info@acacarkansas.org and we’ll get back to everyone by July 15th, 2008.
